Irish Ninja is his name. There’s no rhyme or reason...it just is. He’ll be your resident indie head. The Ninja's been following the likes of El- P, Atmosphere, Junk Science……pretty much the catalogs of: Definitive Jux, Rhymesayers, Nuclear Family, Mello Music Group, etc. for about 13 years strong. During those years, all he did was read liner notes of albums and research all of those producers, guest emcees, guest DJs, side projects, collaborations…….you get the point. He continues to search the net for music like a DJ in a record store, constantly looking.

Irish got into spinning music back in 2003. The only reason he started spinning was because nobody was playing the music he wanted to hear on the radio. So quietly, (some say like a Ninja) he began to practice his turntable skills simply to record sets of music that he wanted to hear. As time went on, his self-inflicted knowledge of indie hip hop, DJing, and all things dope began to increase at an insane speed. He wanted to share all the dope music he’d discovered over the years because he wasn’t hearing it anywhere else. But at the time his singular voice was proving to not be loud enough. Enter The Niftian………

The Niftian and Irish Ninja have always had something musically in common, from the OMeN (represent!) to when BITM first started. He even wrote a couple reviews for him when BITM first started. When The Niftian said that the site would be back and asked Irish to be a part of the team he was building, how could The Ninja say no?

Irish Ninja will be doing reviews and commentaries with a focus on the indie scene, which is proving to be the yin to mainstream’s yang. Just because the music is independent doesn’t mean it is some undiscovered gem. Please believe, there is plenty of garbage on this side of the fence too. He is here to give you the good, the bad, and everything in between.

There is good music everywhere and it is Irish Ninja’s duty to get you as much as possible. Let’s go....
